SMART CITIZEN DESIGN CHALLENGE EXTENDED
We are extending the competition for the case of the smart citizen kit until its official launch and presentation, next Wednesday April 24th.
We invite you to the official launch of the project for the community of Barcelona along with the announcement of the winner for the design of the case.
The event will be held in the Fab Lab Barcelona, located at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalunya Poble Nou. The project will be presented during the event, both hardware and software, by its own developers, and also the first kits will be delivered to the contributors, making a mini-workshop of implementing the device, configuring the the kits and take them home to install them immediately. THE CONTEST
The Smart Citizen community in Barcelona is launching the first design contest in order to select the best and most attractive case for the Smart Citizen Kit. The contest is open to designers, creators, artists or makers around Fab Labs, Maker Spaces, Hacker Spaces, and any other organizations. The goal is to obtain a design which could be replicated in any fabrication facility in the world, just by downloading the blueprints from the Smart Citizen online platform (http://beta.smartcitizen.me), it should be produced within the tools available in the Fab Labs, such as 3d printing, laser cutting, cnc milling, among others. The proposals will be evaluated by the Smart Citizen and Fab Lab Barcelona team, and will be published on the different online platforms and social media.
How to submit an entry?
1. Upload your design to Thingiverse: http://www.thingiverse.com/upload (you MUST include the “smart citizen” tag)

3. Share with your community in order to get votes in the Smart Citizen facebook page
Requirements of the design:
- Simplified method of fabrication using the tools available at Fab Labs
- Distributed online, open source
- Environmental friendly materials and processes
- Correlated with the kit and platform design
- Rainproof
- Should not affect the readings of the sensors
Smart Citizen Kit measures:
Prizes:
- 1st: 1 Smart Citizen kit valued in 150 Euros
- 2nd: Participation in a Fab Lab Barcelona workshop + Smart Citizen t-shirt + sticker
- 3rd: Smart Citizen t-shirt and sticker
All the rights of authorship will be respected during and after the contest. The author tag will be included in the winner case.
