This project is a gift from IaaC Institute and Fab Lab Barcelona to Nuqat organizers for inviting us to give a 3D printing workshop and a lecture during their conference. IaaC has organized 4 architectural competitions since the last 7 years which have been published by Actar.
Self Sufficient Housing, Self Fab House, Self-sufficient city and City Sense.
The foldable book case combines craftsmanship and digital fabrication technologies in a way that the final piece is unique and handy.
The case was milled with the CNC and further on engraved with the logo of Nuqat and the islamic graphics that were the theme of the 3D printing workshop.
We chose not to use conventional methods of joining the wooden pieces, but natural high quality leather that was laser cut and engraved. The flexibility of the leather allows the folding of the case in a playful way.
